Major General K.P.S.A Fernando RWP RSP ndu of Gajaba Regiment assumed duties as the new Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock (SLACAL) on Monday (09 Oct) at the Regimental Centre in Karandeniya, Ambalangoda.
The incoming Senior Officer was warmly welcomed by the SLACAL Centre Commandant before he was greeted in a Guard Turnout. Subsequently he was invited to receive the salute of the formal Guard of Honour at the parade square.
At the auspicious minute, he afterwards placed his signature in an official document and signified the acceptance of the new office, amid 'Pirith' chanting of the members of the Maha Sangha. Adding memories to the day, he planted a sapling in the compound and posed for a few photographs with the Regimental Staff.
The day’s agenda culminated with an All-Rank lunch in the premises. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in the event.
