SL Engineers Commemorate their Fallen War Heroes

Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) on Saturday (23) commemorated the memory of their fallen War Heroes during a ceremony at their monument in the Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda.

Spouses, children, next of kin and Senior Officers, headed by Major General Jagath Gunawardena, Colonel Commandant, SLE as the Chief Guest took part in the commemorative wreath-laying ceremony plus lighting of the monument lamp. The singing of the National Anthem, Army song and the SLE song followed by reading of the narration, religious observances plus the two-minute silence dominated the day’s proceedings. A display of ‘Rana Bera’ beating as another tribute to their memory added colour to the occasion.

Amid melancholic melodies of bag pipers, the floral wreaths were laid by Major General Gunawardena, spouses and next of kin who were present there.
