With the objective of raising the mutual understanding, peace and harmony, among the villagers and the members of the security forces, soldiers serving Security Force Headquarters (Kilinochchi), under the guidance of Security Force Commander Major General Udaya Perera, organized a New Year festival on Thursday (11) in Kilinochchi.
The fiesta, spanned throughout the day, was packed with Sinhala and Hindu traditional events. The highlights of the day were selection of ‘Avurudu Kumari’ and ‘Avurudu Kumara’, princes and prince of the New Year, and the best singer of Kilinochchi district, ‘Geetha Kokilaviya’.
Anuradhapura Provincial council Member Mr Sehan Semasinghe graced the occasion as the Chief Guest accompanied by the Security Force Commander (Kilinochchi) and many senior officers.
