The Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) conducted a 'Bakmaha Ulela' at Ambepussa SLSR Regimental Center, together with all Officers, Other Ranks, family members and civil employees on 8 April 2023.
Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR and Quarter Master General and Mrs Omila Jayawardena, Chairperson of SLSR Seva Vanitha Branch attended as distinguished guests of the day’s event.
The Sinha Bakmaha Ulela consisted of numerous new year games, including, Marathon, Lissana Gaha, Kana Mutti, Baloon Blasting, Hidden Guest, Running with Lemon on a Spoon, Singithi Awrudu Kumariya and Awrudu Kumara etc where participants of all ages could participate.
In the meantime, Young Cougars' Club of the SLSR organized an 'Awrudu Fair' with essential day-to-day groceries and other food-related items as a fund-raising project. The Colonel of the Regiment and other invitees together with council members presented awards to the winners of 'Avurudu Kreeda' (New Year games).
Subsequently, civil employees serving the regimental center were given specially-arranged dry ration packs and gift parcels by Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Mrs. Omila Jayawardena and Brigadier Chaminda Thibbotuge, SLSR Centre Commandant in a special gesture during the ceremony.
Council members, Senior Officers including Commanding Officers, SLSR-SVB members, Young Cougars, Other Ranks, family members and civil employees attended the event.
