Signallers Excelled in Sports Receive Army and Regimental Colours

Sri Lanka Signals Corps (SLSC) held its second Colours Night on December (29) at Panagoda with Major General (Retd) C. J. Abeyrathne gracing the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
 
24 Officers and soldiers of the SLSC received Army Colours from the Chief Guest for their outstanding performances in various sports while 75 more received Regimental colours for various roles during the ceremony. Corporal K. A. D. C. Perera won the year’s Best Sportsman award for his achievements in Rugby and Elle.
 
The Colonel Commandant of the Corps (SLSC) Major General E. P. de Z. Abeysekara warmly received the Chief Guest, in the company of Chief of Staff at Army Headquarters Major General R. M. D. Rathnayake, Deputy Chief of Staff Major General A. L. R. Wijethunga and Brigadier (Retd) K. A. Gnanaweera.
 
Five Retired signallers also received special awards for their outshining performances and their dedication towards the uplifting of sports in the Corps.
 
Torch tattoo presented by the Corps of Signals Brass Band added entertainment to the event while two Ranaviru Real Star (Session II) competitors among 24 finalists for the programme, Signalman K. L. Silva and Signalman Perera contributed to the musical fiesta with their vocal talents. Members of the Army cultural troupe too joined the artistes with their stunning performance during the event.
 
Colonel D. R. Dharmasiri, Centre Commandant of SLSC delivered the vote of thanks before curtains fell marking the finale of the ceremony.
