A total of 1210 milk powder packets gifted to the Army for distribution among low-income group families in Colombo by Fonterra Brands Lanka Company Ltd were given away to the selected families on Wednesday (21) by troops of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West).
The donation was made possible through the Green Agriculture Operation Centre with the directions given by the Head of the Centre, General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff.
Accordingly, SFHQ-West troops in consultation with respective Grama Seva officials in selected areas gave those nutrients to 605 families in an attempt to relieve economic burdens of affected families.
Brigadier Nilantha Premaratne, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-West and District Coordinator for Green Agriculture Operation Centre on behalf of the West Commander closely coordinated and took part in the project.
