SFHQ-Wanni Initiates Special Reserve Platoon Course

The Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) for the first time under the direction of Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-W conducted the ‘Special Reserve Platoon Course’ at Pampeimadu, Battalion Training School from 02 May 2022 to 7 June 2022.

The course was followed by 5 platoons representing each division under command to the SFHQ-W. The aim of the course was to develop the fighting power of the infantry, enhancing a physical component and combat power by increasing the manpower, equipment, training and operational readiness.

The curriculum of the course included lectures and practical sessions on the handling of GPS, Self Defense Methods, Unarmed Combat, VIP Protection, Introduction of Explosives and Demolition, Handling of Weapons, Firing, and Rules of Engagements, Special Operation Procedures and Internal Security.

The closing remarks of the course were held on 07 June 2022 at Pampeimadu, Battalion Training School. Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-W graced the occasion as the chief guest. Following Officers and Other Ranks were awarded trophies:

Best All-rounder - S/480213 Corporal M.P.D.N Shantha of 20 Gajaba Regiment

Best Shooter - S/520569 Corporal R.M.C.S Bandara of 4 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment

Best Physical - S/H101154 Infantryman J.T.R Jayaweera of 2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment
