SFHQ-Wanni to Build Two New Pre-Schools

Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) will construct two preschools in remote areas of Anuradhapura and Vavuniya districts with the financial sponsorship of Hemas Outreach Foundation.

Hemas Holdings primary corporate social responsibility project ‘Piyawara’ in partnership with the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs focuses on Early Childhood Care & Development in Sri Lanka by establishing child friendly preschools across the country. Currently 44 such preschools are operational in Sri Lanka with over 3500 children receiving their preschool education.

As a continuation of their ‘Piyawara’ project, Hemas Outreach Foundation came forward to fund two more preschools after screening the hardships of the civilians in two under privileged remote areas of Marada Maduwa and Diviya Uda Benda Wewa that consists of all three ethnic communities.

On Monday (19), foundation stones were auspiciously laid to construct the ‘Ran Tharu’ preschool in Marada Maduwa and ‘Ekamuthu’ preschool in Diviya Uda Benda Wewa which were long-felt requirements in the areas.

The ‘Piyawara’ programme goes beyond brick and mortar with a holistic approach to early childhood development. Under this programme teacher training, parental awareness and many other facilities will be provided to the community annually whilst it will be under the monitoring mechanisms set by the Children’s Secretariat of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs.

SFHQ-W joins with this valuable effort as a further step for the reconciliation process launched by the Commander of the Army. With these two preschools the Security Force Wanni has so far constructed 4 preschools and one Primary School in the area for the benefit of the future generation.

Group Director of Hemas Holdings PLC and Chairperson Hemas Outreach Foundation Mr. Abbas Esufally and the Executive Director Hemas Outreach Foundation, General Manager Communications and Sustainable Development, Mrs. Shiromi Masakorala were present representing Hemas Holdings PLC for the foundation laying ceremony.
