An initiative of the Security Force HQ-Wanni and the 21 Division enabled the donation of 20 bicycles and 20 dry rations packets among underprivileged families, resident in the Cheddikulam Divisional Secretariat area on Sunday (05) December 2021 after arrangements organized in the St Anthony's Church premiss in Periyakaddu through coordination of Ven Thanthirimale Chandrarathana Thero, Chief Incumbent of Thanthirimale Raja Maha Viharaya.
Aimed at further enhancing of the mutual cooperation and reconciliation between the civil community and the military, 'Path' organization with the coordination of Ven Thanthirimale Chandrarathana Thero came forward to sponsor those facilities as bicycles would ease the burden of transport for schooling children in those needy families.
The Commanding Officer, 5 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Major S. D Rathnasiri, together with 2 Mechanized Infantry Regiment troops under the supervision of the Commander 213 Brigade, Colonel L. G. J. N Ariyathilaka organized the distribution in consultation with the monk, Divisional Secretariat and state officials.
This programme was implemented according to instructions and the guidance of the Commander Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Champaka Ranasingha and the General Officer Commanding 21 Division, Major General Mohan Rathnayaka. Representatives of sponsors, Officers and members of the 'Path' Organization took part in the distribution project.
