SFHQ-Jaffna's English Proficiency Project for Weak Students Launched

The Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) expanding its community-oriented projects further began its 'English Language Skills Development programme, a project designed exclusively by Army English Instructors at SFHQ-J for the benefit of the students learning at the Government Tamil Mixed School in Palaly North. The teaching sessions were inaugurated on Sunday (25) and it is to be held between 1400 to 1600 Hours at the 'Ambalama' T-Junction as facilitated by the troops providing up and down transport to the students.

As per the guidelines given by Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander, Security Forces -Jaffna, the aforesaid English Language Skills Development Programme is managed by the English Instructor at the Security Forces Headquarters -Jaffna, Captain Roshini Ranasinghe with the objective of helping children to enhance proficiency in English since their language standards remain relatively poor according to their parents and teachers.

Accordingly, the 511 Brigade facilitates transport to all 20 students who have joined so far along with a snack for all participating students. The Principal of the Government Tamil Mixed School in Palaly, Teachers and 20 students attended the inaugural ceremony along with several Senior Officers of the SFHQ-J. The project expects to help further promote spirits of reconciliation and goodwill between the troops of the Security Forces Headquarters-Jaffna and the civil community.
