Consequent upon the generosity extended by two US-based Sri Lankan expatriates, the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Monday (3) gave away 100 dry ration packs and essentials to families, resident in Colombothurei, Velvetithurei and Arali-Kodikkadu areas as a new year gift.
Dr. Sukumar and Ms Ann Nagendran of the US through the coordination of the SFHQ-J offered the sponsorship for this community project considering the plight of poverty-stricken people in those remote areas.
11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 11 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 12 Gemunu Watch troops serving under 51, 52 and 55 Divisions of the SFHQ-J actively participated in the supply of those relief packs to their doorsteps by taking those parcels on Army vehicles. It was organized in consultation with Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna.
General Officers Commanding of 51, 52 and 55 Divisions accordingly lent their support through the troops.
