Continuing its community welfare services further, troops of the Security Force HQ-Jaffna on the guidelines given by Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander-SF-J are once again ready to erect one more new house for a needy family in the west of Puloly, Point Pedro with financial assistance, extended by a lady donor.
To be in line with the Army's ongoing house construction project for the homeless in the peninsula, Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander, Security Forces -Jaffna laid the first cornerstone for the construction of the new house for the needy family of Mrs Jayarooban Nandani of Puloly - West on Wednesday (24).
The lady sponsor, Mrs Sheela Emmanuel through the coordination of overseas-based Major General Ravi Rathnasingham (Retired) confided in the Army skills, and management of funds and volunteered to sponsor the project on humanitarian grounds at the request of the SFHQ-J. The family of Mrs Jayarooban Nandani of Puloly, West, Point Pedro without a proper house for her family was recommended for this construction by the Army troops serving the Point Pedro area.
Troops of the 551 Brigade provided much-needed manpower and technical expertise for the construction work under the supervision of the Commander 551 Brigade, Brigadier Chinthaka Wickramasinghe. At the end of the foundation-laying ceremony, the Commander Security Forces -Jaffna gifted a dry ration pack to the deserving family.
General Officer Commanding - 55 Division, Brigadier General Staff Security Forces-Jaffna, Commanders of 551, 552 and 553 Brigades, Senior Officers, government officials and civilians also participated during the inaugural ceremony.
