The traditional ‘Katina Pooja’ in the historic Tissa Raja Maha Vihara in Kankesanthurai, got underway under the patronage of the Chief Incumbent of the temple, Venerable Ginthota Nandarama Thero during 16-17 October.
Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, together with his troops attended the ceremonies.
All Units under command to the Forward Maintenance Area - North under the guidance of Brigadier Clifford Zoysa, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - North extended their maximum support for the conduct of annual ceremony.
The religious programme was concluded with ‘Heel Daana’ (breakfast) and offering of ‘Atapirikara’ to all the monks. The final Katinanisansa sermon was delivered by the Chief Incumbent of the Temple, Amarapura Sri Kalyanawansha Maha Nikaye Anushasaka Venerable Ambalangoda Nindane Vajirangnana Thero.
