SFHQ-East Shares Views With Muslim Clergy

With the objective of fostering understanding, reconciliation and harmony among various communities in the East, the Security Forces Headquarters, East (SFHQ-E), recently held a cordial meeting with leading Islamic religious leaders (Maulavis) from Muslim dominated areas of Eravur and Batticaloa.

Major General S.A.A.L Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, East speaking to the gathering, highlighted the importance of addressing social issues, related to unemployed youth in those areas and underlined the need for promotion of goodwill and reconciliation among all ethnicities in order to create awareness on matters of security importance and harmonious living.

Major General Perera also requested the religious leaders to work closely with the Police and the Security Forces to forge better relations as the country is now fast recovering and developing after bitter experiences in the past.
