In close cooperation with the 'Guna Jaya Sathuta' Padanama (Foundation of Goodness) of Mr Kushil Gunasekera, the Security Force HQ - East under the guidelines and supervision of Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander Security Forces - East (SFHQ-East) in coordination with state officials launched a dry ration donation project for selected low-income group families, resident in the Medirigiriya Divisional Secretariat sector on Saturday (19).
7 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment troops of the SFHQ-East made neccessary arrangements in this regard in close cordination with the donor agency and officials at the Medirigiriya Divisional Secretariat. All of those 200 selected families during the simple ceremony received dry ration packs, each worth Rs 4000/= where Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander Security Forces - East (SFHQ-East) attended as the Chief Guest with sponsors of the project and the Divisional Secretary. Each relief pack contained rice, dhal, dry fish, milk powder, nutrients, sugar, spices and other provisions.
Beneficiaries were selected by respective Grama Seva officials in close coordination with the District Secretariat and the SFHQ-East which took the initiative in this regard in consultation with Mr Kushil Gunasekera, Chief Trustee and Founder of the 'Guna Jaya Sathuta' Foundation.
Major General Shewanth Kulathunga, General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division, Brigadier Wasantha Hewage, Brigade Commander, 233 Infantry Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel H.H.P.C. Halpage, Civil Affairs Officer, Security Force HQ - East, Lieutenant Colonel H.C.S Harischandra, Commanding Office 7 Sri Lanka Artillery and several Senior Officers and Other Ranks, state officials and family members of those beneficiaries were associated with the occasion.
