SF - East Provides Support for Pregnant Mothers and Farmers in Kokkadicholei

The troops of the Security Forces – East (SF-East) conducted a donation programme, distributing dry ration packs and agricultural supplies worth over Rs 1.2 million at the Kokkadicholei Cultural Centre on 13 March 2024.

During the programme, 20 pregnant mothers received nutrient packs each worth around Rs 7,000.00, and a large stock of agricultural needs, including 500 coconut seedlings, 120 hybrid seed packs, and 120 packets of fertilizer, was distributed among the people of Kockkadicholei. An educational awareness programme on modern agricultural practices was also conducted during the event.

This initiative was carried out under the guidance of Major General M.K.U.P. Gunarathne RSP ndu psc IG, the Commander of SF-East, in collaboration with the Silvermill & Vitacoco Foundation and its officials, including Major General W.B.S.M Abeysekera (Rtd) RSP VSV USP, Mrs. Dilanthi Ranaweera, and Mr. Dinesh Silva.

Brigadier K.M.C.S. Kumarasinghe, the Commander of 243 Infantry Brigade, and the Commanding Officer of 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, supervised in arranging the event. The occasion was graced by the Commander, SF-East, as the chief guest, along with Rev. Ebenazer Joseph, Bishop of the Methodist Church and Mr. M.M. Sudahar, the Divisional Secretary of Kokkadicholei.

The General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and residents in the area participated in the event.
