A record 3000 civilians in Welikanda, Monarathenna, Sinhapura, Manampitiya and Bowaththa areas in the East enjoyed the hospitality of Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ- East) troops on Vesak Poya day (5) when the troops held a mammoth free eatery (Dansela).
The SFHQ-East was offered multiple gestures of generosity by businessmen and donors in the area giving a stimulus to the SFHQ-East troops. In addition, troops from their own cultivations provided vegetables, fruits and grains to the meritorious project.
Major General S. R. K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces - East inaugurated the ‘Dansela’ and display of Vesak lanterns and decorations in Welikanda town after Buddhist monks performed religious observances.
A number of Vesak lanterns crafted by 3 Corps of Engineering Service troops and technical section students at WelikandaMahaVidyalayacoloured the Welikanda town area as dusk fell.
All Staff Officers and Other Ranks of the SFHQ-East, Logistic Battalions under command to the Forward Maintenance Area - East joined hands together to make the arrangements a success.
