Formal visits were made by the Commander, Security Forces-East (SF-E) to the 2 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) in Welikanda and 3 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corp (SLAWC) in Dehiaththakandiya during 13-14 January after his assumption of office.
On arrival at the 2 (V) SLSC Unit premises, Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi was welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel G.L.S.W Liyanage, Commanding Officer, 2 (V) SLSC.
After that, the SF-E Commander was accorded a formal Guard Turnout in accordance with military formalities. Later on the visiting Commander planted a Mango sapling and addressed the troops.
Soon after the troop address, the Commanding Officer presented a comprehensive briefing on ‘Role & Tasks’ and nature of the duties of the Battalion.
Thereafter, the Commander, SF-E visited the 3 (V) SLAWC next day. The Commander was welcomed by Major L.P.L De Silva, Commanding Office, 3 (V) SLAWC on arrival at the Unit premises. A Guard Turn out conducted by woman soldiers saluted him.
During the visit, SF-E Commander planted a Mango sapling to mark his visit to the 3 (V) SLAWC, followed by a troop address and an all rank lunch.
The Commanding Officer at her office gave a brief to the visiting Commander. Company Commanders of the 3 (V) SLAWC on the occasion had an opportunity to discuss their difficulties and requirements with the Commander, SF-E.
Colonel Admin & Quartering and Colonel General Staff of the Security Force Headquarters-East too accompanied the Commander.
