Service Corps Basketball Players, Champions of the Year

The Army Inter Regiment Basketball Championship - 2021 finals (3x3) got underway during 28 - 30 November at Panagoda Army Indoor Stadium.

Major General Priyantha Perera, Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Sports Committee and Sri Army Basketball Committee who is also the Chief of Staff graced the final awarding event on Tuesday (30) as the Chief Guest.

For this year's championship, 28 teams representing 15 Regiments of the Army competed with one another and the tournament was meant to select best of the best for the Army and national basketball pool. Organized by the Sri Lanka Army Basketball Committee, this year’s Championship was grabbed by players in the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps. The 2nd place went to the Sri Lanka Signal Corps and the 3rd place was won by Sri Lanka National Guard players.

The day’s Chief Guest after the finals, together with a few other invited senior officers gave away awards, trophies and certificates to the winners. The culmination of the awards ceremony, held adhering to health guidelines took place with the vote of thanks.

Senior Officers, including Major General Sujeewa Senerath Yapa, Commander, Security Forces - West and Major General Christy Jayasinghe, Deputy Commandant Sri Lana Army Volunteer Force attended the final event.
