Senior Officer, One among Best Ten Awarded 'Commandant's Book Prize' in India

A Senior Officer of the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment of the Army who followed the Higher Defence Management Course- 17 at the College of Defence Management at Sikundrabad, Hyderabad, India was selected for the Best 10 nominated Case Studies out of 162 participants and awarded the 'Commandant's Book Prize' for his topic, "A Strategic Management Case Study on Creation of Non - Operational Infrastructure (Quarantine Centre) with in 24 Hours using SWOT Process".

Brigadier L.C.K Pathirana who followed the Higher Defence Management Course- 17 at the College of Defence Management at Sikundrabad, Hyderabad India from 31 May 21 to 28 March 2022 was awarded the Master of Management Studies from Osmania University and the Adavanced Course in Management from All India Management Association. He was one among ten best nominees out of 162 course followers and participants. He was awarded The Best Case Study Trophy among friendly foreign participants.

His case study that related to the Sri Lanka Army's construction of the Quarantine Centre within 24 Hours for COVID 19 infectees under the SWOT analysis which is a strategic planning and strategic management technique used to help a person or organization identify Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT), related to project planning. It is sometimes called situational assessment or situational analysis, summed up how a Nation was provided with emergency arrangements within hours, thanks to the untiring efforts of the Army in Sri Lanka.

The award of the Commandant's Book Prize to the Senior Officer, a rare recognition during the Course added further significance and brought honour to the country and the organization.
