55 Division Headquarters at Vettalkerni, Jaffna with the great intention of raising standards of knowledge among more than 300 Grade 5 scholarship examination students, organized a full-day seminar at Palai Madhya Maha Vidyalaya, situated in the 551 Brigade area.
The arrangement, in line with instructions given by the respective Zonal Department of Education, attracted students of Maradankerni and Kilinochchi zones as well.
Mr S.K Ponnaiah, Maradankerni Zonal Education Officer, Mr S. Anandasiwam, Pachchalaipallai Zonal Education Officer, Mr K. Balasingham, Principal Palai Madhya Maha Vidyalaya and ten more teachers conducted the sessions in the seminar. Brigadier B.H.M.A Wijesinghe, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division attended the inaugural occasion as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the Department of Education.
All the attendees, parents, lecturers and minor staff were served with lunch and refreshments by the Army during the sessions. Teachers as well as parents extended their gratitude to the Army for timely conduct of this seminar as the examination is to be held shortly.
