Secretary Defence, Eng Karunasena Hettiarachchi, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, together with Navy and Air Force senior officers this morning (1) went to the Galle Face Green and closely inspected military segments in the forthcoming 69th Independence Day parade rehearsals.
This year’s main ceremony, headed by HE the President, will take place at the Galle Face esplanade, attended by some 8000 personnel of the tri-services, Police and Civil Security Department next Saturday (4).
Secretary Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, Army and Air Force Commanders and Chief of Staff of the Navy after viewing the rehearsals gave further instructions for improvement to those in charge of the parades and advised them to make some qualitative improvements and other necessary changes.
Mr Chandrarathne Pallegama, Director General, Civil Security Department, Ministry of Defence officials, Army Chief of Staff, Army Deputy Chief of Staff and senior officers were present at the location.
Meanwhile, 3rd rehearsal of the Independence Day arrangement was closely observed by Chief of Defence Staff, together with Commander of the Army, Commander of the Air Force, Inspector General of Police, Director General of Civil Security Department, senior Navy officers and officers this morning (2).
