The Chinese Delegation, headed by Major General Zhang Baoqun, Deputy Director of the Office for International Military Cooperation of the People's Republic of China, paid an official visit to the School of Signals on 08 March 2024.
Major General I.H.M.R.K. Herath USP ndc psc, the Chief Signal Officer and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps, warmly welcomed the delegation at the Officers' Mess. Moments later, Major M.M.U.I.B. Wawegedara psc, the Chief Instructor of the School of Signals, conducted a briefing on the training conducted at the school. Afterwards, a discussion was held, focusing on potential collaboration opportunities for the advancement of the school with inputs from the Chinese Army.
Thereafter, the delegation visited the training locations on the premises, including Line Communication and Fiber Laboratories, where demonstrations were given by student Officers and Other Ranks. The gathering posed for a group photograph and exchanged mementos symbolizing goodwill between both parties.
Prior to departure, Major General Zhang Baoqun penned some complimentary remarks in the visitors’ book.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in the day’s event.
