RHQ SLSR Bids Farewell to Retiring Major General Lalith Rathnayake

Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) bade farewell to one of its outgoing Senior Officers, Major General Lalith Rathnayake, former General Officer Commanding 51 Division on 10th October 2020 upon his retirement from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army after a reputed service of more than 35 years.

Major General Lalith Rathnayake has served the Sri Lanka Army by holding numerous commanding appointments and staff appointments. The farewell commenced on arrival of the day’s Chief Guest who was saluted in a ceremonial Guard Turnout, followed by a Guard of Honour in the parade ground, together with the regimental truncheon.

Subsequently, he paid a floral tribute to fallen SLSR war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty of the motherland at the SLSR War Heroes' monument, together with Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

The day’s event also included an all rank tea at the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess and a customary photograph at the Officers’ Mess.

The programme of events culminated with the customary dining out hosted on outgoing Major General Lalith Rathnayake's behalf. His spouse, Mrs Thushari Manjula Rathnayake, Senior Officers, Officers and their spouses joined the occasion in the Regimental Officers’ Mess. The event observed all health guidelines.
