Retiring Chief Field Engineer Honoured in His Regiment Premises

Major General Tissa Nanayakkara, the retiring Chief Field Engineer of the Army was given a farewell by his troops in the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) Regimental Headquarters on Monday (25).

Major General Tissa Nanayakkara on his arrival at the Corps Headquarters was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Ravindra Dias and presented a Guard Turnout at the entrance. Afterwards, he paid floral tributes to the War Heroes’ monument and was invited to receive the salute in a parade.

Afterwards, everyone joined refreshments at the utility building. Retiring Major General Nanayakkara spoke to the troops and thanked all of them for their cooperation. A farewell dinner at the Officers’ Mess with a large gathering of Senior Officers and Officers in the evening culminated the day’s proceedings.

Major General Tissa Nanayakkara enlisted to the Army on 05 August 1985, as an Officer Cadet to the Sri Lanka Military Academy and served more than 34 years in the Army.
