Recently-Appointed Wanni Commander Receives Religious Blessings at Anuradhapura

The newly-appointed Commander, Security Forces - Wanni (SF-W), Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu called at prominent places of worship in ancient Anuradhapura to pay his obeisance and receive religious blessings as a tradition on Friday (28 July).

At first, Commander, SF-W, participated in religious observances at the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya, together with the General Officer Commanding, 21 Infantry Division, Major General I.A.N.B Perera RWP USP ndu psc, and a few other Senior Officers.

Afterwards, he met Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thero, the chief incumbent for eight sacred places of worship (Atamasthanadhipathi), and Nuwarakalaviya Chief Sangha Nayaka at his monastery. Towards the end of the brief meet, he offered 'Pirikara' to Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thero and received blessings during his audience at the incumbent’s monastery.

After a while, he visited Ruwanweli Maha Seya, Thuparamaya, Lankaramaya, Abhayagiriya, Isurumuniya, Jayanthi Viharaya, Mirisawetiya, and Mihinthalaya religious places in Anuradhapura and met respective chief incumbents in those temples and received blessings during interactions.

General Officer Commanding, 21 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the Wanni Commander during the visits.
