‘Viru Daru Stride - 2012’, a walk organized by Army Viru Daru Society to promote awareness of the well-being of the children of civilians and fallen War Heroes and raise funds for their welfare work, is to be launched on 26 May 2012 starting from Galle Face Green.
This youngsters-led ‘Stride’ walk with the blessings of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) expects to raise funds that can be used for provision of psychological counseling to war-affected children of both civilians and War Heroes, promotion of their school and vocational education, their morale, sense of hope and confidence, financial capacity, etc.
