Psy Ops Conducts Awareness Programmes

Directorate of Psychological Operations conducted an awareness programme on ‘anti-social acts’ on the instructions of the Commander of the Army. It was conducted in the Brigades and Divisions under command to the Security Force Headquarters East during Nov 16-18.

A total of 07 officers and 202 other ranks of the 241 Brigade participated in the awareness programme while 12 officers and 220 other ranks of the 221 Brigade and 10 officers and 210 other ranks of the 23 Division took part in the arrangement.

Lecture assistance for the project was provided by the Sri Lanka Army Mental Health Unit, Directorate of Legal and Alcohol and Drug Information Centre (ADIC) through the coordination of the Director, Directorate of Psychological Operations.

Lieutenant Colonel J.A.U.P.K Jayasooriya of the Army Mental Health Unit and Major I.M.J.C Abenayake of Directorate of Legal conducted lectures along with Mr Ajith Nawagamuwa and Sampath de Seram of the ADIC.

Meanwhile, another awareness programme on 'anti-social acts' was conducted at the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment premises on Wednesday (16) at Panagoda.

Resources for the project were provided by the Sri Lanka Army Mental Health Unit, Directorate of Legal and Alcohol and Drug Information Centre (ADIC) through the coordination of the Director, Directorate of Psychological Operations.

Lieutenant P. A.C.P.K Peduruarachchi and Probationary Officer H.G.N Deshapriya of Sri Lanka Army Mental Health Unit, together with the Captain H.M.J.P Herath of Directorate of Legal conducted lectures.

Mr Pubudu Seram, Executive Director, Alcohol and Drug Information Centre also conducted a lecture on 'prevention from alcohol'.

A total of 200 Army personnel, including 14 officers and 186 other ranks attended programme at Panagoda.
