Promoted GOC Given Formal Military Salute in Punani

Army troops serving the 23 Infantry Division HQ in Punani on Saturday (16 Sept) extended formal honours to the newly-promoted Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 23 Infantry Division in accordance with military traditions upon his arrival to the 23 Division HQ after his recent elevation to the rank of Major General.

At the main entrance, the incoming GOC, 23 Infantry Division was presented a Guard Turnout salute by 9 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment. Afterwards, the promoted General Officer Commanding was invited by the Staff Officers to plant a ‘Mango’ sapling in front of the Headquarter premises as a token of memory.

Afterwards, Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc addressed the troops at the 23 Infantry Division HQ as a customary feature. The day's proceedings culminated with a tea table.

All under command Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Staff Officers and Other Ranks of 23 Infantry Division joined the formal reception.
