Prize-Awarding in Carrom Tournament Held

The prize-awarding ceremony of the Inter Regiment Carrom Championship 2022 took place on Friday (25) at Panagoda, Army Physical Training School after the tournament that began on Monday (21) continued at the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) Regimental Centre.

Major General Asoka Peiris, Chief Signal Officer and Colonel Commandant of the SLSC graced the awarding ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Players from sixteen Regiments competed in the tournament and the players of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) team (men’s) carried away the Championship, defeating the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) team. Similarly, the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) emerged the champions and SLSC women soldiers as the runners-up in the women’s category.

Director Sport Brigadier Nalin Bandaranayake along with several senior officers congratulated the achievers. The day’s Chief Guest, and other senior officers joined the distribution of trophies and certificates to the winners.

Rifleman W.M Mufeez of SLSR and Private Gunadasa of SLAWC were adjudged best players in Men’s category and in Women’s category respectively. Private R.M.S Rathnayake of SLASC was awarded as the best player in the veterans’ category.
