Forwardair, Scanwell Group of Companies in a magnanimous gesture of appreciation and goodwillgifted three units of air conditioners to the Army for the greater benefit of War Heroes, residing in ‘Abimansala’, wellness resort at Pangolla on Tuesday (15).
The company’s Group General Manager, Colonel (Retd) Vikum Siriwardana and Mr Andy Anderson, Managing Director called at the Army Headquarters and presented documents, related to the gift of these air conditioners to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake.
Management and the staff of the Forwardair, Scanwell Group of Companies, noting the invaluable services of the War Heroes to the nation at the expense of their lives and vital organs, unanimously decided to donate these ceiling mounted and stand alone-type three units, worth about Rs 2 million, the Commander was told.
Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, expressing his appreciation and gratitude to the donors, spoke high of their considerateness and concerns towards those dependent War Heroes who are now confined to wellness resorts after their permanent injuries and opined that this donation would set an example.
The brief occasion was witnessed by Colonel N Edirisinghe, Military Assistant to the Commander of the Army.
