Private Company Helps Enhance Mechanical Knowledge of Army Officers

Lanka Ashok Leyland Company Pvt Ltd at the invitation of the Directorate of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (DEME) of the Army held a workshop on the theme ' Management and Modern Trends of Vehicle Maintenance' for the benefit of 20 Officers at Lanka Ashok Leyland Company Pvt Ltd premises during 3-4 November.

To be in line with the conceptual guidance of the Commander of the Army, Major General Ranjan Jayasekera, Director General at Directorate of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering took the initiative in this regard. The workshop focused largely on modern technology, proper maintenance of vehicles, assembly of spare parts and repairs, oiling, replacement of vehicle spares, etc and those engineers in the company demonstrated practicals before the gathering. During the programme, those EME Officers had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge on vehicle assembling, fault finding, trouble-shooting and application of latest technology, related to prolongation of the lifetime of vehicles.

Director General, EME attended the inaugural occasion. Mr Umesh Gautham, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lanka Ashok Leyland, Mr Vipin Ohri, Deputy General Manager-Exports of Lanka Ashok Leyland and Mr Sugath Weerakoone, General Manager-Lanka Ashok Leyland were present during the two -day long workshop.
