The 'District Ranaviru Organization' in Polonnaruwa District, established across the country in order to provide relief and address issues related to welfare of retired, handicapped and injured War Heroes and family members of fallen War Heroes had its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday (27) at the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) at Minneriya.
Those ‘District Ranaviru Organization’ were established across the country on a concept of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army some months back with the intention of supporting them in whatever the way possible.
The meeting at Polonnaruwa was closely supervised by Major General Mahesh Abeyratne, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - East. The Annual General Meeting selected a new board of officials for the year 2022 and it was attended by members from Thamankaduwa, Lankapura, Medirigiriya, Hingurakgoda and Elahera Divisional Secretariat areas. A videoed message of the Army Chief was also screened during the occasion.
