Following a long-running personal dispute that led to a brawl late night on Tuesday (29) between two families in Paniady, Norochcholai, the Norochcholai Police by Wednesday (30) evening arrested a soldier on leave and are in the process of tracing whereabouts of the civilian, the mastermind, involved in the said incident, the Police confirmed.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Military Police while extending all assistance to the Norchcholai Police to arrest those suspects, believed to have taken away a man from his home by force, have also commenced its own parallel investigations, detaining a few fellow-soldiers on leave after the said soldier was arrested by the Police. Police reports claimed that a few men, dressed in military-type uniforms had allegedly arrived at the victim's home on a van and took him away by force and dropped him on the way.
Preliminary Police investigations in progress to arrest the main civilian suspect affirm that a private dispute between two families appeared to have triggered the incident. (Ends)
