Periyapandivirichchan Glitters with Christmas Carols

The Army troops of 4 Gajaba Regiment (4 GR) attached to the 653 Infantry Brigade of the 65 Infantry Division recently showing their goodwill towards the Catholic community staged a Christmas Carol concert at Periyapandivirichchan Government School in Madu area.

Major General Prasad Edirisinghe, General Officer Commanding, 65 Infantry Division taking the initiative in this connection with the objective of fostering harmony and goodwill between civilians and members of the Security Forces organized the spectacle in consultation with the clergy in the Mariakoththi Church where Carols were sung in Tamil, English and Sinhala languages.

More than 500 civilians in the area for the first time in recent years flocked there to enjoy the spectacle where snacks and gifts were also distributed among children who were participating in the whole programme and those children who watched Carols.

Brigadier NamalSerasinghe, Commander, 653 Infantry Brigade, Major W.D.A Udayakumara, Commanding Officer of 4 GR, OIC Madu Police Station, Divisional Secretary, Medical Officer at Madu Hospital, Principal and teachers, students were among those who enjoyed the Carols.
