PCR Tests Done So Far Exceed 2 Lakhs-NOCPCO

As of this morning (02) 43 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 epidemic.Those 43 expatriates and foreigners were from Doha, Qatar, (30) (24) at Vidaththapalei QC, (3) persons at Periyakadu QC, (2) at Amagi Arya Hotel- Negombo, (01) at Sealand lodge QC – Anuradhapura, 5 from Kuwait, (4) in quarantine at Iranamadu Air Force QC and (01) at Mulankavil QC, 6 from Maldives in quarantine at Long Beach Hotel- Koggala QC, 01 from UAE in quarantine at Rantembe QC and 01 Indian Civil Sea Marshal at Hikkaduwa Lanka Super Coral Hotel QC, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 am this morning (02), the total number of detainees at Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Addicts stands at 639. Of them, 518 individuals are detainees under rehabilitation, 67 staff members, 5 guest staffers, 48 family members and close associates, including 01 person who got in contact with the infected one in the Welikada Prison.

The flight EK 648 from UAE with 29 Civil Sea Marshals and the flight QR 668 from Doha, Qatar with 57 passengers arrived in Colombo and all of them are expected to be referred to Quarantine Centres, managed by tri-services after formalities at the airport.

Within the day (02), 402 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 04 persons are from Kalpitiya Ruwala QC, 5 persons from Nipuna Boossa QC, 6 persons from Iranamadu QC, 45 persons from Hotel Dolphin QC, 7 persons from Hotel Jetwing Blue QC, 7 persons from Mt Lavinia Hotel QC, 73 persons from Jetwing Lagoon QC and 255 persons from Punani QC.

Likewise, 35,338 individuals by this morning (02) have been sent back home after quarantining. 7,990 persons in 70 tri-service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (01), 1810 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 228,052.

Meanwhile, 11 positive COVID-19 cases after full recovery left hospitals early this morning (02). All of them were expatriates in quarantine. Accordingly, 624 individuals, associated with the Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for Drug addicts at Kandakadu have left so far after recovery.
