Pakistan’s High Commissioner Visits 1 Corps HQ

The High Commissioner of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, Major General (Retd) Umar Farooq Burki, Hilal-i-Imtiaz paid a courtesy visit to the 1 Corps Headquarters at Kilinochchi on Thursday (Nov 24) during a visit to the northern province.

Major General Crishantha Gnanaratne, Commander, 1 Corps warmly received the visiting diplomat and presented a briefing on the high operational readiness of his troops for internal security arrangements as the first respondent in times of crises, such as natural catastrophes, disaster relief, floods, landslides and all emergencies and the maintenance of close relations with relative state agencies and mechanisms for enhancement of civil-military cooperation, etc.

Upon conclusion of the visit, Pakistan’s High Commissioner penned a few of his thoughts in the visitors’ book before exchange of symbolic mementoes to mark the cordial meeting.
