Pakistan Army's Inspector General Training Holds Cordial Discussions with Commander

Lieutenant General Muzammil Hussain HI (M), Inspector General Training and Evaluation of the Pakistan Army, now in Sri Lanka on a five-day goodwill visit, called on the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya at Army Headquarters Monday (7) morning.

The visiting military delegation, headed by Lieutenant General Muzammil Hussain, is comprised of Brigadier Tahir Hameed, Colonel Sohail Wali Raja, Lieutenant Colonel Waseem Zafar Bhatti and Lieutenant Colonel Waseem Ahmad of the Pakistan Army during their stay in Sri Lanka, is scheduled to visit the Defence Services Command and Staff College, Commando Regiment Training School, Sri Lanka Military Academy and hold a series of discussions with respective Army officers. 

Cordial discussions between the two senior Army officers during the meet recalled sound and very strong military ties and cooperation that both countries have been maintaining since 1960s and Sri Lanka’s uninterrupted exchange of military training programmes with the Army in Pakistan.

Pakistan Army has been generous in providing a number of training courses for Sri Lankan tri-service personnel at her various military training institutes. Those  include War College Courses, Unit Command Courses of Infantry, Mid-career Courses of Signals, Young Officers’ Courses of all arms, Logistic Staff courses, Intelligence Staff Courses, etc and the courses at the National Defence College.

Lieutenant General Jayasuriya during the interactions, noted that the Pakistan Army has been magnanimous in assisting its Sri Lankan counterpart at all times by way of supply of military hardware and more importantly, by awarding more and more training opportunities for Sri Lankan Army officers in Pakistan. 

Paying a glittering tribute to all encouraging gestures of the Pakistan Army, the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jayasuriya opined that both Pakistan and Sri Lanka need to further enhance potential for sharing of military knowledge and expertise, particularly in the face of emerging terrorist threats in some technically advanced countries.

Later on, the visiting Lieutenant General Hussain took time off to meet his country’s High Commissioner in Colombo. His delegation, in the meantime, was scheduled to meet the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, Brigadier Sudantha Ranasinghe to receive a full account of the roles and tasks of his office, in relation to ongoing rehabilitation of former combatants.

Lieutenant General Muzammil Hussain HI (M) was commissioned in 12 Baloch Regiment, an Infantry Battalion of the Pakistan Army in 1978. He has served as General Staff Officer Grade-3 appointment in an Infantry Brigade, the ADC to General Officer Commanding and Brigade Major of an Independent Infantry Brigade Group. He participated in the Gulf War during 1990 - 1991 as Second in Command of a Battalion. He is a graduate of the Command and Staff College Quetta (1988) and the Indonesian Staff Course (1995).

As a Lieutenant Colonel, he commanded his parental unit (12 Baloch) from 1995 to 1997 and was posted as Directing Staff in the Command and Staff College, Quetta between 1997 - 1998. He also served as Defense Attache in Jakarta, Indonesia from 1998 to 2001. He subsequently commanded an Infantry Brigade from 2001 - 2003. He attended the Armed Forces War Course 2003 - 2004 and was posted on the prestigious slot of the Chief Instructor in Command and Staff College, Quetta in 2004, Later on, he served on the coveted slot of the Chief of Staff in Headquarters 30 Corps.

He was promoted to the rank of Major General in 2007. He commanded Force Command Northern Areas (FCNA), a deployed formation of the Pakistan Army from 2007 to 2009. He also served as Director General Military Training in 2010. On promotion to the rank of Lieutenant General, he took over as Inspector General Training an Evaluation on 8 Oct 2010.
