Major General Krishantha Gnanaratne who served the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) as the 34th Commandant from 07 February 2020 to 06 July 2021 relinquished his office to take up a new appointment on Wednesday (7).
The outgoing Commandant was greeted to a Guard Turn Out on arrival at the premises before he was invited to receive the salute in the Guard of Honour, presented in his honour.
Afterwards, he joined a tree planting ceremony in the SLMA compound. Meanwhile, the Commandant was invited to pose for a few group photographs with other ranks and officers of the Academy as symbols of memory.
During his address to the occasion, he reminded the importance of the SLMA and improvement of the standards of training modules, as delegated by higher Headquarters and the Commander of the Army.
Finally, all ranks at the SLMA headquarters gave a street line farewell to the outgoing Commandant. He will shortly resume office as the new General Officer Commanding, 14 Division.
