Outgoing MIR Colonel of the Regiment Hands over Office to his Successor

A formal farewell ceremony for Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP, the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) was held on Friday (09 June) at the MIR Regimental Centre in Dambuluhalmillawewa.

He was warmly welcomed upon his arrival by the incoming Colonel of the Regiment Major General H.M.U Herath RWP RSP VSV USP Hdmc psc, General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division and Brigadier A.M.A Abeysinghe RWP RSP USP psc, MIR Centre Commandant along with Regimental Council Members.

The formal military farewell ceremony commenced soon after a Guard Turnout salute at the entrance. He paid tribute to the fallen war heroes at the MIR war heroes' monument before duties were handed over by the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment to the incoming one. An All Rank tea culminated the day's programme. In parallel to the event, he was invited for lunch at the recently constructed Warrant Officers’ & Sergeants’ Mess and a formal Dinner. Further, he left some remarks in the Visitors’ Book as well.

Finally, all Officers and Other Ranks greeted him in a street-line parade.
