Major General Amal Karunasekara, the outgoing Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi (SF-KLN) relinquished his office on Saturday (14) during a formal military ceremony.
A ceremonial Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour, presented by 7 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops serving under the Security Force Headquarters -Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) greeted the outgoing Kilinochchi Commander on arrival at the premises in keeping with military traditions.
During the military ceremony at the parade ground, the outgoing Commander, SF-KLN, Major General Amal Karunasekara, symbolizing the formal relinquishment of office, handed over the official flag of the SFHQ-KLN to the new Commander, Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana.
Adding memories to the occasion, the outgoing Commander afterwards planted a ‘Mango’ sapling in the premises, before he placed his signature in a formal document to symbolize the relinquishment of office.
On Tuesday (10), the outgoing Kilinochchi, Commander delivered his farewell speech and commended excellent services and unfailing support of all the officers and other rankers during his office and requested the same be extended to his successor in the future.
General Officers Commanding (GOC) 57, 65 and 66 Divisions, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, senior officers, officers and other rankers attended the event.
