One More Needy Family Receives Army Expertise-Built New House

Troops of 1 Corps of Engineer Service (CES) Regiment and 8 Gemunu Watch under command to the 61 Division of the Security Force HQ-West jointly constructed a new home for a needy family in Keenagahawila, Kalatuwawa in Ratnapura district on the directions given by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army after the MTV/MBC, 'Sirasa' Media network through its 'Sirasa Niwasa' project sought the Army assistance in this regard.

Major General Wasantha Abrew, Commander Security Forces - West enabled technically-skilled engineering and other skilled troops to complete the project with funds and resources, made available by the 'Sirasa Niwasa'. Major General Dammi Hewage, General Officer Commanding 61 Division graced the auspicious inaugural house-warming as the Chief Guest on Thursdays (18), together with Mrs Needra Weerasinghe, Head of the MTV and MBC Network representing the 'Sirasa Niwasa' programme.

After the plight of poverty-stricken Ms Nisansala Gunarathne living condition was brought to the notice, the sponsors in order to mitigate the costs turned to the Commander of the Army in search of Army manpower and their construction skills for erection of this much-needed house for the family.

In accordance with ancient traditions, the day's chief guest and the sponsors at the auspicious minute unveiled a plaque, joined oil-lamp lighting and milk-pot boiling rituals, together with beneficiaries and vested the new home in the family.

Commander, 611 Brigade, Project Officer at SFHQ - West, Commanding Officer 8 GW, 'Sirasa' officials, relatives of the family and well-wishers were associated with the day's inaugural event. Nike Sneakers Store | Autres
