One More Batch of 142 New Recruits Join the Army

142 new recruits who followed a four-month long Recruit Training Course at Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Training School in Kegalle, passed out on Saturday (14) in a formal parade upon completion of their recruit training Course No 25.

The military formalities and the ceremonial Passing out Parade, assumed the form of a cultural pageant, exciting displays in physical training, band playing, drill displays, etc, amidst a large gathering of parents, relatives and friends.

Major General T. J Nanayakkara, General Officer Commanding, 11 Division took part in the ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Private D. P.D.V Dasanayaka of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps received the cane and the trophy from the Chief Guest as the Best Recruit for achieving the highest aggregate marks for all theoretical and practical disciplines during training.

In accordance with a new concept introduced by the Commander of the Army, the ceremony distributed 1420 saplings among those 142 recruits. All of them took an oath at the same time that they would take care of those saplings until they are fully grown as a component in their military life.

Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, parents, relatives and friends of newly recruit soldiers participated in the ceremony.

Best Platoon Commander - Captain K. M. W. M. T. D Wijekoon (SLRC)

Best Platoon Sergeant - Sergeant E. H. N Sampath (SLNG)

Best Section Commander - Lance Corporal J. A. W. W Bandara (GW)

Best Physical Instructor - Corporal W. G. E. K Premachandra (MIC)

Best Physical - Recruit R. D. B. N Wimalasiri (SLAGSC)

Best Shooter - Recruit D. M. B. I Devagiri (GW)

Best Platoon - 4th Platoon
