Oddusudan Families with Students Provided Solar Bulbs by 64 Infantry Division

With generosity offered by Australia-based 'Australia-Sri Lanka Friendship’ organization, 64 Infantry Division troops of the of Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu on Saturday (22) launched a project to distribute a stock of solar-powered bulbs among needy families living in Oddusudan area, Mullaittivu after inviting the beneficiaries to the 64 Infantry Division HQ.

The project, prioritizing families with school-going students gave away those bulbs to 60 families who do not have access to electricity during the arrangement. The supply of those bulbs would largely facilitate students readying for examinations.

Major General M.K Jayawardana RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces -Mullaittivu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Major General H.D.W.K.N Eriyagama RWP RSP, General Officer Commanding, 64 Infantry Division who also coordinated and organized the project with his troops after receiving feedbacks from respective Grama Niladhari officials about the plight of beneficiaries' livelihoods.

The ‘Australia-Sri Lanka Friendship’ organization provided necessary financial resources for purchase of those solar bulbs in response to a request of Mullaittivu troops. Representing ‘Australia-Sri Lanka Friendship’ organization, Mr Parakrama Girihagama and Major Aruna Perera (Rtd) attended the distribution ceremony.

General Officer Commanding, 64 Infantry Divison, Senior Officers, Officers, Grama Seva officials in the area participated in the event.
