NSC Chair Proposed New SAG Secretariat Opened

Ministry of Sports on the recommendation of Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Chairman, National Selection Committee (NSC) of the Ministry and Commander of the Army opened the South Asian Games (SAG) Secretariat this morning (23) at Torrington in order to help record selected 632 athletes/sportsmen/women competing in the South Asian Games (SAG)-2019 in Kathmadu, Nepal during 1-10 December.

Minister of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports, Hon Harin Fernando, Chairman of the National Sports Selection Committee (NSSC) Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Secretary to the Sports Ministry, Mr Chulananda Perera, Director General Sports, Ministry of Sports, Mr Dammika Muthugala, Director General Sports Sri Lanka Army, Major General Anura Sudasinghe, National Selection Committee Chief Coordinator, Major General (Rted) P.M.R Bandara and Secretary of the National Sports Selection Committee, Mr R. A Kularathna were associated with the inaugural opening.

After cutting a ribbon, distinguished guests entered the new SAG secretariat premises on the second floor of the National Institute of Sports Science (NISS), to be manned by 26 Military Officers who would screen, rectify and provide all possible assistance to 632 aspirants, set to vie in Kathmadu in December in 26 sports in the 13th SAG.

Lieutenant General Senanayake after he was appointed the Chairman, NSC issued specific selection criteria for conduct of selection rounds before February 2019 and wanted the progress be reviewed constantly until the Ministerial Review Committee attended by Chairpersons/Secretaries/ Treasurers of respective Sports Associations are summoned.

In addition, the Army with the objective of making the whole project a success has assured all possible assistance by way of providing trainers, coaches, physiotherapists, nutritionists, veterans etc for the purpose of further promoting the field of athletics in Sri Lanka.bridgemedia | adidas Yeezy Boost 350
