Drought that prevails in the North Central Province has now spread its wings to the Northern Province in Jaffna since the average rainfalls have not come as anticipated.
Taking stock of the entire situation, the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) has immediately launched a project to supply water to most affected areas in the peninsula with the coordination with 55 and 52 Divisions, to begin with.
Troops placed plastic water tanks on roadsides and filled them with water after taking them in bowsers to most needed areas, following instructions, given by the Commander, SFHQ-J.
On a priority basis, people in areas served by 55 and 52 Divisions of the SFHQ-J are provided with water before the project, is extended to other areas, depending on a day today situation.
