The Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation, chaired by Ven Talagala Sri Sumanaratana Thero extending its hand of assistance to under-privileged low-income group families in Batticaloa area at the request of the Army provided 500 dry ration packs, each valued at Rs 1500.00 to 500 families on 01 June 2022 after inviting them to both Sri Mangalarama and Sunethrarma Temples in Batticaloa.
11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops of the 231 Brigade coordinated the distribution of dry ration packs to needy families living in Gemunupura and Kachchikkudi Grama Seva Divisions in Batticaloa District in consultation with respective Grama Seva officials.
The 213 Brigade Commander, Civil Affairs Officer, Commanding Officer of 11 (V) SLSR, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
Meanwhile, the same 11 (V) SLSR troops of the 231 Brigade under the guidance and directions of Brigadier Dilupa Bandara, Brigade Commander of 231 Brigade gave away 80 dry ration packs, each worth around Rs 5000/= among poor families in Sinnawatta area in Batticaloa district at a special event held on Poson Full Moon Poya Day (14).
The programme was carried out with the financial assistance provided by the philanthropists, Mr Suranga Pushpakumara as well as the Sri Lankans, currently employed in Baharain.
Brigadier Dilupa Bandara, Brigade Commander of 231 Brigade, The Civil Affairs Officer of the 231 Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Manjula Dharmawardana Commanding Officer, 11 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and all other Officers and Other Ranks of 11(V) SLSR joined the organizational aspect of this community project.
