In order to further enhance the civil-military coordination and also determined to improve educational standards of poverty-stricken students in remote areas of the Wanni region, the sponsorship provided jointly by Peoples’ Bank, Galewela and Telecom-Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd Mannar branch enabled distribution of school accessories and essentials among 54 selected needy students at MN/Isamalathathivu Primary School, MN/Thampaneikulam Primary School and MN/Pannevettuwan Tamil Mixed School in Mannar on Thursday (23).
The simple distribution ceremony, organized & coordinated by the troops of 15(V) Gemunu Watch under the guidelines given by Major General U.D Wijesekara, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division and also under the supervision of the Commander, 542 Brigade, Colonel W.S.V Fernando took place at Isamalaththiv Community Hall after inviting the beneficiaries to the location.
General Officer Commanding, 54 Division, Commander, 542 Brigade, Civil Affairs Officer of the 54 Division, Commanding Officers of under command Battalions, Senior Officers, Principals and Teachers, Parents and Students of the schools were present during the programme.
