Northerners Enjoy Diversity of Food Cultures

Jaffna Culinary Festival organized by the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) in collaboration with Northern Province Hoteliers Association was held in front of Jaffna fort premises during15-17 December for the first time in the recent history.

A large number of hoteliers from different parts of the country also joined with this mega food festival organized by the SFHQ-J under the guidance of Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J).

The food festival ended this evening (17) and offered for the Jaffna people to taste the diversity of food recipes drawn from every corner of the island opportunity to the people in Jaffna to experience and explore the culinary diversity of the country.

Hon. Reginald Cooray, Governor for Northern Province declared open the Food Festival as the Chief Guest in the company of Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J), Senior Tri-forces, Officers, Government Officials, civilians and soldiers on Friday (15).

A musical show 'Rhythm of Harmony' presented by 'Agni' band, coloured the occasion Saturday (16) evening comprised of a series of musical and dancing events. The project was designed with the objective of educating the Northerners on varieties of food culture in the country.

Moreover, Christmas Carols organized by the Sri Lanka Army Carol team along with local Carol teams in cooperation with the Bishop House, Jaffna and Catholic churches in Jaffna area was held Sunday (17) evening.
