Nigerian NDC Team Calls on Commander of the Army


A delegation of 20 faculty members of the National Defence College (NDC) of Nigeria, headed by Commodore Chukwuka Joel Chiejile, currently in Sri Lanka on a week-long familiarization tour as part of their curriculum, called on Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army at the Army Headquarters this afternoon (14).

The delegation on arrival at the Army Headquarters was received by Brigadier K.P.A Jayasekera, Director Training and conducted to the office of the Commander of the Army.

Commodore Chukwuka Joel Chiejile, Head of the Delegation and the senior student in the delegation during their cordial meeting with the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and expansion of bilateral training opportunities. Brigadier K.P.A Jayasekera, Director Training was also associated with the cordial meet.

After the formal meeting, the visiting delegates exchanged mementos as tokens of goodwill and long-lasting memory with the Commander of the Army.

Afterwards, a comprehensive presentation on the roles and tasks of the Sri Lanka Army was produced before the visiting delegates in the adjacent conference hall at the Army Headquarters. 

Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Adjutant General on behalf of the Sri Lanka Army welcomed the delegation to the Army Headquarters. Brigadier K.P.A Jayasekera, Director Training submitted the presentation to the visiting Nigerian students.

Major General R.V Udawatte, Director General Financial Management, Major General R Ratnasingham, Quarter Master General, Major General B.A Perera, Director General General Staff, Brigadier N.A Dharmaratne, Director Personnel Administration, Brigadier D.C Keppetiwalana, Director Infantry, Brigadier B.V.D.P Abeynayake, Director Plans, Brigadier H.M.J.K Gunaratne, Director Operations and Brigadier K.J Jayaweera, Director Media were present during the presentation.

During their stay in Sri Lanka, the visiting delegation is expected to visit the office of the Governor of the Central Bank, Defence Services Command and Staff College, Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters, Sri Lanka Navy Headquarters, Ministry of Defence, Office of the Chief of Defence Staff and a few other places of relevance.
